Hi, I've looked though 101 threads discussing this but most either speculatively discuss options or talk of their calculations based on initial installations. Has anyone been running an immersun (or similar) for a couple of year; enough to have a reasoned calculation of their real world savings?

  • Had a solar immersion for the best part of a couple of years. Unfortunately the solarimmersionIII device has no logging facility.

Prior to this our ASHP heated the water [no gas here] so savings are minimal, say £60ish a year based on long term meter reads.

That's why I went for a cheap unit instead of an expensive immersun for payback reasons.

Unit is effective for 8-9 months of the year. Very happy as fit and forget plus the way things are setup the ASHP will heat the water if the solar immersion does not.

    Cheers

I've no gas either and someone is at home all day - so i'm in the best case scenario for theoretical savings. I've looked at various options though many don't do two immersions and/or look like something I could build in my shed which isn't entirely reassuring. Savings seem predicated on the unit and the immersion elements lasting 3-5yrs (device cost dependant.)
