E-On unfair default - How to overturn?
Hi all, First time poster - I thought I might be able to get some worthwhile advice from here, as you all seem to know your stuff. I recently found out (via a check on Equifax) that I have a default on my account. This came as a bit of a surprise as I've never received any correspondence to that effect. I moved out of a…

Cost of replacing full electric meter box
Does anyone know how much it will cost to have a meter box replaced, including getting northern power grid engineer to come out and disconnect the fuse and everything? Also, once the engineer has moved the meter and fuse out, can I just drill in the new box myself or will I have to get someone else in to do it?

Canceling Direct Debit with NPower
I recently changed energy companies from the dreaded NPower to Extra Energy. The Extra Energy account is now set up and operational. There will be a small outstanding bill from Npower for a one month supply which I have not yet received. Would it now be safe to cancel the NPower direct debit through my bank at this stage?…

Suppliers' projections for future usage
Suppliers use centralised weather data for distributing estimates across price changes for old bills. What about future annual projections? Say over the past twelve months temperature data suggests that 20% less energy should have been used. Do suppliers get to assume we will revert to average next year and add that on to…

Scottish Power Fixed Price Deal
Hi there I bought a Scottish Power Fixed Tariff Deal through moneysaving expert.com's Cheap Energy Club recommendation for £152 per month, fixed until March 2015. They have now started taking £250 per month out of my account, and when I contacted them about this, they said they never guaranteed my energy would be £152 per…

estimated reading mess up!
My last few bills have been estimated, just took a reading and sent it in on the BG app and it's less than last months estimate so BG think I have used 99754 units of electric, will I have to ring them and sort this out or will the computer sort it out sometime this year? I normally only use about £10 a week.

Peculiar on line bill from scottish power
Since April I have been trying to sort out my Online Account with Scottish Power. I was £223.61 in Credit and requested a pay back of £150 which left me with £73.61 Credit. It is showing on my account as a Debit. I have e mails (2) telling me that they have corrected it. The last one today and my Account is showing £122.11…

Smart Meters & FIT tariff - Worse off ?
My FIT tariff currently pays 3p per unit when exported, they currently deem I use 50% of all energy generated as there is no "export" meter fitted. I know that my house runs on around 750w during average daylight hours and my solar system averages around 2.5kW so I am exporting far in excess of the 50%. On the other hand I…

Scottish Power, closed account in credit - repayments in installments?
I have switched from Scottish Power who previously supplied both Gas and Electricity. Both my accounts are shown on the Scottish Power website as closed. My final gas bill has been issued showing a credit balance of £39.17. I have telephoned and been told my electric account is in credit of £53.13. This gives a total…

Coin electricity meters
Hello everybody, I would like to seek some advice! I'm in the process of looking for a flat, and I've been offered one which looks pretty good, except for the fact that it uses coin-operated electricity. Is this still common, and are they fairly economical? This would be my first time living alone, and I've never really…

Yet another issue with Npower
Very unhappy with service and billing from npower had nothing but bad experiences with them since September 2013. I first joined up because they were boasting about being the cheapest energy supplier at the time. After signing up to their fixed priced dual fuel plan, it took almost 2 months to actually transfer from the…

E-on energy tariffs - confused or what??!!
I am not entirely sure who is the most confused, whether it is myself, or E-On getting their tariffs completely mixed up. During May 2014 my dual-fuel direct debit energy account was £120.00 in credit and a refund was issued by E-On. During the month of June 2014 my monthly direct debit of £275.00 placed the account in…

Historic Charges Help!
I'm hoping someone can advise me on this. So I moved house last August and went through the usual 'moving home' procedure with Scottish Power which I was told at the time had all gone smoothly. They're now saying that I owe them £90 for the final bill from the old place but it was only billed in May this year? At first I…

Problems with switching energy supplier
Hello, We've been renting a flat for the last 9 months, about 1 month into the tenancy we decided to switch our utility supplier from Scottish Gas to Eon. We contacted both companies providing meter readings for both gas and electricity and they confirmed that they would work out the details of the switch between…

Why didn't my transfer go through?!
Ok.. I am with Southern Electric for my gas supply currently. I only use about 300kWh of gas a year and it was fine until they introduced a standing charge, meaning my gas bill has shot up from about £25 a year to £100. Back in January I applied to go with Ebico on their no standing charge gas tariff because, obviously,…

Warm Homes Rebate
Last year - I received the warm homes rebate (based on income and disability - hence NOT the mandatory group) - so I enquired from Scottish Power again this year. They responded that I was only entitled to the £135, this year, if I was in the mandatory group Is this correct ? Have the rules changed ? "You will be eligible…
