Smart Meters & FIT tariff - Worse off ?

My FIT tariff currently pays 3p per unit when exported, they currently deem I use 50% of all energy generated as there is no "export" meter fitted. I know that my house runs on around 750w during average daylight hours and my solar system averages around 2.5kW so I am exporting far in excess of the 50%.
On the other hand I understand that I am only paying 3p per unit for the energy I use when it is generated.
My question is, if I have a smart meter fitted will I get paid for all the surplus energy generated and, if so, will I be charged the normal rate for everyting I use ? If this is the case then it seems I should keep away from a smart meter for as long as possible.

If you are exporting in excess of the 50% deemed, then a smart meter will help you as you'll get paid for the extra export, so certainly nothing to fear! The amount you get paid for generation won't change.
That said, none of the energy companies have said they will use the readings from smart meters to pay FIT export as yet, have they?
Until the energy companies have a metering standard that they can all access, then I don't think you have too much to worry about as your FIT can be with one company and your supply with another.0
