Historic Charges Help!
I'm hoping someone can advise me on this.
So I moved house last August and went through the usual 'moving home' procedure with Scottish Power which I was told at the time had all gone smoothly. They're now saying that I owe them £90 for the final bill from the old place but it was only billed in May this year? At first I asked if they could just add it onto our current account but htey said that's not possible. Now I'm wondering if I should have to pay it at all? I swear there was something on the news the other day saying that there's only so long they can charge you for a historic bill for? It's been nearly a year with nothing until recently...
If anybody can help I'd appreciate it.

It's got to be over a year, not nearly a year before the "back billing rules apply so August to May is only 9 months or thereabouts.
Why didn't you check your bills & readings to make sure that you'd paid it all up to date or to establish that they didn't owe you some back.
Hopefully you will now put a bit more effort into making sure your present bills reflect your readings and aren't based on estimates. Checking that your payments are covering your consumption will also help avoid shock bills at a later date.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
