How long do utility suppliers have to provide a final bill?
I switched from British Gas over a year ago to iSupply, and have now switched to First Utility. I didn't ever receive a final bill from British Gas, I haven't moved and BG haven't made any attempts to contact me since I left them. I recently checked my credit report and found that my BG account is shown as still active,…

Another EDF Screw-up. Ideas?
Hi, Rather than helping with other's issues, I have one of my own I hope I can get some help with? I have an outstanding account balance with EDF of £900. The reason I have not paid it is this: 1) They sent me an absolutely incomprehensible set of bills, which mixed gas and electricity together, refunded, and added on…

Electric Meters
I had a workshop, and although I wasn't using electricity, I was still paying £40 plus quarterly for the meter. Why can't we just buy a meter, have it sealed by the supplier, they can read it, but then, because it's ours (mine), we just pay for the electricity used. What a con!

Problem switching gas & electric to first utility
I have tried to switch my electric and gas from Npower to First Utility via the Cheap Energy Club on this site, I filled in all my details and I have had an email from First Utility saying they can't supply me with energy on the cheapest tariff because I have the wrong sort of meter. As far as I know my meters are just the…

Paying wrong gas bill for 10 years
Okay, this sounds a bit crazy. I've been living in this flat for 10 years. The meter boxes aren't numbered by flat. When I moved in I was given the meter numbers from the previous resident, and I've been paying the gas bill happily ever since. A few weeks ago, a gas inspector came round and asked me to put the gas on so he…

N Power Help!
I came on the forum last year with my problem with N Power who closed my original account as they had a reading that was not in line with my previous reads when Scottish Power tried to take us over. It was a new meter in 2009 so up until 2011 everything was okay with average bills. We are low users as heat with gas and…

New house - change supplier under Deemed Contract?
Recently moved into a new property and received a letter from Npower saying I'd automatically become a customer under a 'deemed contract'. I've just had to take them to the ombudsmen when in my last property as I had no end of bother with them. They're asking for meter readings - can I use e.g. uSwitch to change over…

When you move into a new rented property..
Hello I moved into a new rented property yesterday. When we collected the keys on Friday we asked the letting agent who the current electricity supplier was. They said that they didn't know and that we are welcome to choose our own supplier. (We already have a meter reading.) However, some advice I read on the Citizens…

NPower mess - need help please
Hi, After a bit of advice please. I moved from EDF to Npower for Gas and Electricity to a fixed until 2017 deal after the recommendation on the newsletter. This was back in November. The Direct Debit was set up and everything sorted. The electricity transferred relatively quickly but not the gas. I chased them, and EDF to…

Switching - When to cancel Direct Debit with existing supplier?
I have applied to switch energy suppliers from E.On to EDF. This switch is expected to go through in about 3 weeks time. Should I cancel my Direct Debit with E.On now or wait until after the switchover has completed by which time a further monthly payment will have been taken and will probably have to be refunded as I am…

N Power and landlords
I moved out of a rented property on 5th May this year. I rang NPower and gave them final meter readings for gas and electric, they sent me a final bill and a cheque for £49.01 as I was in credit. Set up with another energy provider (because it takes 1/2 a day to get through to NPower) and thought no more about it until…

Puzzlingly late bill for 1st quarter after switching to NPower
We recently switched to NPower from edf in order to get a longer fixed price and save some money.! However in the first quarter we've been given a massive bill of about £400 for Jan-April. This one three month billing period has cost us more money than we spent on all out gas and electric with edf over a period of a year.!…

Getting a refund from npower!
....is proving impossible. We think they owe us around £600 because we've overpaid for the last few years (their estimate, not ours). They were going to reduce our monthly payment from £105 to £25 to clear this. Then we moved on 22nd may. Phoned on 23rd with final metre readings. They said final bill and refund would be…

No more gas heating after 2016, true or not?
After being pestered on the phone by some company to come visit me to give me an energy survey or some such thing to give me £1,000s of government grants I agreed to see what rubbish is being spouted nowadays in the name of green. Replace my present heating with air pump heating, spend £1,000s, ROI 5 years. (maybe) on a…
