Hi all (first time forum user, hope I'm doing this right...),

Has anyone signed up to the Big Deal Energy and actually switched? I have less than 2 days to decide whether to commit but because it's a new concept there are no reviews or feedback to be found. Not sure whether to take the plunge...

Anyone???

The chances of the tariffs offered being any cheaper than the tariffs available directly to yourself (or anyone) from perusing a comparison site is close to zero.

"The deal is available for Big Deal members to take until midnight on Tuesday 15th July.
The Direct debit discount of £33.60 per year for gas and £33.60 per year for electricity included in the standing charge. The rates given below do not include an online discount of £5.25 per fuel per year, and a Dual Fuel discount of £15.75 per year.
Average unit rates are as follows (the specific figures will depend on your region):

    Electricity - Standard
    Standing Charge £0.1950/day
    Unit Rate 12.7546p /kWh

    Gas
    Standing Charge £0.2484/day
    Unit Rate 3.7847p/kWh"

Thanks Nada666 - It's a lot better than my current fix. I'm just nervous about switching to the unknown. Have you heard about it?
  • Who offers this tariff?

As Nada alluded to, these big switches come around frequently, and not once has the tariff on offer beaten what was already available. I suspect it's just a data gathering exercise.

Its a 2 year fix provided by Green Star Energy. It worked out £10 a year more expensive than my host suppliers cheapest offering at typical consumption and they are not cheap!

Based against what Green Star currently offer for a 2 year paperless fix in my region. I’ve worked out that Green star are offering Better Deal customers a 0.29p per unit discount for electricity and exactly the same price for Gas.

    MASSIVE! Lol.

Thanks everyone. For those who didn't know about it here's a link -

...damn, i wasn't allowed to post the link as a new forumite. Anyway, google This Is The Big Deal...

It seemed like a great idea and the tariffs are def better than my current fix but I'm just too wary. And if you say one can still find better or similar on price comparison sites, I'd rather leave my options open than jumping into the unknown with this new scheme, even if I'm currently paying a little more.

It does speak volumes that there has been little feedback on here about other moneysavers being part of this scheme. You would have all been the first to know ;)
