Can I dispute standing charges for electric
I property I own has been vacant for over 12 months and despite myself and the tenant giving 'end readings' I had a real battle with British Gas who kept on sending escalating usage readings and bills. Having eventually resolved that one ie the tenant was responsible for the bill up to given metre reading , i have now…

UW budget plan reconciliation?
I'm being charged this budget plan reconciliation and I'm not too sure what it's for. I don't pay by DD and I've already moved to another provider. This is UW's final bill. Another thing is that the budget plan reconciliation for the gas is £17.77 even though my "usage" is -£1.75. Can someone help explain please?

Hi, I have a studio flat that currently has a gas boiler. Seams like a bit of a waste as the place doesn't get that cold being a flat and the shower is electric. NPOWER Bill has arrived after 16 months!!
After months of calling and asking for a bill, I've finally received one! The period is from 9th Feb 2013 to 4th June 2014. The bill is for dual fuel and amounts to £2397. £1418 of this is electric and £979 is gas. This seems awfully high given the mild minter we've had and the fact that our home is only a 3 bed semi. We…

Smart Meters
My electricity supplier has been bombarding me with offers to install a Smart Meter for free. The existing meter is modern ( the house is only 8 years old ). Reading Meters
Am I the only person to read my gas and electric meter every week? It only takes a couple of minutes to record the readings and the weeks usage. It may seem a bit hyper, but has advantages - In any disagreement with the often inaccurate 'Power Companies' I have an accurate record of my usage - which has come in handy…

New EDF MyAccount website: Messages?
Does anyone know where to view messages on the new EDF MyAccount website? I received an Email saying "You have an important message regarding your EDF Energy account", but I can't find a message area anywhere. The "Live chat" thingy is closed as well, so I can't ask them either.

Economy 10
Hi all, I hope you can help. I've just signed for a rented flat and I'm sorting out all the bills. I've rang npower who currently supply the property (only took 26 minutes to answer) to be told they'll set up an account but can't give me an estimation or any rates as apparently I have an economy 10 meter. Their economy 10…

OFGEM Billing Changes - Unintended Consequences
This forum is littered with posters who have been surprised to receive an unexpectedly large bill from their energy supplier. It is fair to say that, in most cases, the customer should have paid more attention to their usage and the bills that they received. That said, I would argue that OFGEM's recent changes have to a…

Gas boiler pilot lights using ~550W!
I checked the gas meter, and by my calculations, the boiler is burning through about 550W of power, yet it's just idling with the pilot lights on. Does anyone know if this is normal? 550W is about 4745kWh/yr -- that seems rather a lot! I only checked because, after two weeks of not using the boiler at all, I still have a…

Useless Utilita
I have just made the mistake of changing my electricity supplier to Utilita. I have a pre-payment meter which they are going to change to one of their smart meters in the next few weeks. The supply changed on the 7th July, and they sent me a new key to use in my current meter until the smart meter is fitted. This key…
