I await any replies myself as some of the standing charges small businesses are paying with BG appear to be very overpriced. Two very small units I went to said they were paying £1.50 a day standing charge alone for a gas meter which was never used, also a small hairdressers with a gas meter never used was attracting a similar rip off standing charge with a slightly lower daily standing charge

What is your consumption - gas and electric? Units not £
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • Business energy is a world away from the way domestic customers are handled. The prices are bespoke - if you don't like what you are offered, haggle. They have plenty of room, they sculpt large margins onto the apathetic.

Be wary of brokers - whilst they can and do provide a decent service which could end up in cheaper bills, it's nothing you can't achieve for yourself. You just need the time and energy to contact about a dozen energy firms, haggle firmly and go with the lowest. Brokers will do this for you, and then add their margin on the top. You'll ultimately get the cheapest price if you go direct.
