MagnaBooster or MagnaClean - which and are they any good?

I have 14 radiators, feeder in loft and hot water tank - boiler is 2005 Ideal Mexico. Old house and old radiators.
Got boiler serviced and BG man recommended fitting Magna booster 28mm sealed system. Said it would help remove muck from radiators. I do put in 2 bottles of inhibitors in feeder annually.
Looking on net seemed to be opinions in favour of MagnaClean but not sure what the difference is.
Can anyone explain? And is it worth getting either fitted?

I always look on the Screwfix forum for that sort of question as you get more trade replies .

magnaclean is essentially a big magnet which pulls out any loose metallic particles in the water, the magnabooster claims to use the turbulence of the water through a trap to remove all particles, the new ones also use an external magnet.
Lots of historic problems with magnacleans leaking from various seals and valves, but they will give you a much more visually satisfying result when you clean them. Magaclean is plastic, magnabooster is brass.
Think of their operation as an oil filter in a car, essential to protect the system from new but wont repair damage already done though may prevent future problems if fitted in time.0 -
I would never have another MagnaClean fitted. Works well as a filter.
However, sadly the product ages badly. Although the 'Installation and servicing instructions' say that it has been designed to last for the lifetime of the boiler, normally 10 years, it turns out that Adey, the manufacturer, DON'T consider their isolation valves to count as part of that. They count them as 'consumables', requiring servicing. Both of mine started leaking after 4 years, necessitating the purchase of two new washers [at the excessive price of £3.50 each], and an engineer visit to re-install the Mangaclean.0
