Reading Meters

Am I the only person to read my gas and electric meter every week? It only takes a couple of minutes to record the readings and the weeks usage. It may seem a bit hyper, but has advantages - In any disagreement with the often inaccurate 'Power Companies' I have an accurate record of my usage - which has come in handy numerous times, not least because they seem more inclined to take me seriously, knowing I am on top of things!! Having a total I used in the year comes in handy when checking which company is going to give me the best deal next. I can also get very sloppy not turning things down or off, and if my usage goes up unaccountably I know I'm wasting money and need to do something about it. :j All good stuff ?

I read mine every week, and put them into a spreadsheet.
At my old place I read them every day.

It's a good habit to get into - perhaps not weekly - all part and parcel of budgeting to know how much the bills are and when they have to be paid.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I read them every week and put them into an app on my iPhone. Great for seeing if I am paying enough, long before my DD would be changed normally, meaning I don't get into debt.

I do mine every friday and write them on the calendar. I have calendars going back several years. The water I do from time to time. Every morning I download my previous days usage from my efergy energy monitor to the pc. I think I have too much time on my hands to be honest.

We've all had our meters replaced this year. They were not smart meters. As the old ones were apparently in over 30 years I am not holding my breath for a smartmeter.:j
