Useless Utilita
I have just made the mistake of changing my electricity supplier to Utilita.
I have a pre-payment meter which they are going to change to one of their smart meters in the next few weeks. The supply changed on the 7th July, and they sent me a new key to use in my current meter until the smart meter is fitted. This key didn't work, and of course old key didn't work either.
This was at the weekend and I felt quite worried as there was only a small amount of credit on meter, as they had said to run it down as low as possible.
I rang them on Monday and they sent another key out, which also didn't work. In the meantime thankfully the emergency credit kicked in, so I'm currently using that.
I called them again to be told they would only send an engineer out when the emergency credit was below £2, so I had to ring them then.
I was also threatened with call out charges if I they deemed any of it to be my fault.
I just wish I could cancel it all and stay with my previous supplier, British Gas, but Utilita say I'm tied to a 12 month contract from when I agreed to switch on the phone. Does anyone know any way round this, I know its a long shot but any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

I'm sorry to say that if you have agreed a contract then you are stuck with them for that amount of time. I think you could only possibly push it if they do not get you back on supply when you run out. As they will call when you are at £2 you should be okay.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
