I have just received an amended electricity statement that goes back to 12 june 2002, 18 pages long.I have no idea why. I haven't had any info from E.on. It is very confusing, I haven't got anything to check it against as the bills that I have kept only go back to sept 2006. Even then I can't work things out because the…

 Have been with Southern Electricity forever, and just had mild heart failure to have a bill around £200 more than the last quarter. They have taken away discounted energy units and billed on standard units (12.59 per unit. How likely is it that they may reinstate the discounted rate?? Any suggestions on how to lower…

Do you keep your heating on ALL day or just when you need it
A number of people tell me it's more economical to keep your heating on all day instead of putting it on at certain periods. I think the theory is that the central heating system uses a lot more gas if it's being switched on several times a day rather than maintain a steady temperature throughout the day. My work colleague…

Has anyone taken a utility company to court before? help please
ok let me re-phrase it: Can you do so if the company withheld your bills for no less than 8 months and you were not notified that there were two separate meters? I used a pre-paid meter and thought that this was the only one.

Questions, combi-boiler and electric cover door..
For once, I'm not about to ask about my Promax boiler..heh... We're moving, to a 2 bed flat about 10 minutes down the road. Where we are now (3 bed semi), we have an A rated Potterton Promax Condenser boiler, with (somewhat aged and mostly duff) TRVs and a room thermostat. Where we're going to is an upper floor flat,…

Scottish/British Gas
Hey fellas. Checked my post today to find my gas and electricity bills. I've been in my flat with my flatmate nearly two years and last month was the first time anyone has ever come out to read our meter. Anyway, electricity bill is £500 which I know is partly our fault for never checking what our estimate was against our…

'Gas to flow' after Moscow deal
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7834796.stm So, I wonder how this will affect our energy prices? Will the providers start dropping prices, as planned early this year? Or will they use this as a convenient way of keeping the prices high?

I am about to move into my first property on my own. It has a combi boiler. How though do I get a good balance of heat without costing a fortune. The boiler has a heat control, there is a thermostat in the hall and the radiators have knobs on them that twist from 1-6. How exactly do they all work together to create heat??…

EDF Energy
I was with EDF for some years and about 18 months ago switched to a pre-payment meter as I was fed up with them incresasing my direct debits. I switched to Southern Electric in October last year and have just received a bill from EDF for £50 which they say was the outstanding amount I owed before changing to pre-payment.…

timer plug on freezers?
Hello. If I put timer plugs on my 2 freezers, and set them to be off for 15 minutes 8 times in 24 hours, would this save money on the electric, or would the freezers use up extra power when they came on after being off? Im sure the food wouldnt defrost or anything in such short times. Could i set them to be off for longer?…

Scottish Power
Hi, Has anyone experienced problems with ridiculously high electricity prices? We are paying £113 a month (negotiated it down from £160) and we cannot get a proper explanation as to how it is so high. We don't have gas at all and our flat is a new build. When we moved in we were told it would only be about £40 a month. We…

Who will be first to lower prices and when - Bit of fun
Ok, so lets see who can be closest in predicting when prices will fall and who will be first to take the lead and break ranks. The rules are simple - Scottish powers recent 10% cut is excluded as the reduction must be off the companies standard rates. I will go first SSE mid way through February As a sideline I think it…

Boiler Upgrade : Potential Savings?
We currently have a Potterton Puma 100e Combi - must be 10-15 years old. I would like to replace it, but the cost of doing so is likely to be £500-£700 depending upon the new boiler we choose. Our annual usage is just over 14000kWh - do you think the change from the old Potterton to a new HE Condensing boiler is likely to…

Energy Supplier - Landlord allowed to dictate?
Hi, I moved into my first rented property in September and have just managed to sort everything out with the company that supplies the gas and electricity, EDF, and am now paying monthly by direct debit.
