Very ignorant CH question
I am about to move into my first property on my own. It has a combi boiler. How though do I get a good balance of heat without costing a fortune.
The boiler has a heat control, there is a thermostat in the hall and the radiators have knobs on them that twist from 1-6. How exactly do they all work together to create heat??
Told you it was an ignorant question!

Thermostat in the hall will give overall control i.e. it will try and get the heat in that area to the temp you set. The dials on the rads set the temp for that area 1 coolest, 6 hottest. Set these to what you want in each room obviously setting to them to the lowest in any room you dont use or rarely use.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

The boiler's heat control takes care of how hot the water is heated by the boiler. The higher the setting, the hotter the water (and hence the radiators), the quicker your house will warm up!0
