Do you keep your heating on ALL day or just when you need it
A number of people tell me it's more economical to keep your heating on all day instead of putting it on at certain periods.
I think the theory is that the central heating system uses a lot more gas if it's being switched on several times a day rather than maintain a steady temperature throughout the day.
My work colleague keeps her heating on all day and her gas bill was only slightly higher than mine
I just can't get my head around how it can be cheaper to leave central heating on all day when I'm at work and for it to be cheaper than me just putting it on for 4-5 hours when I'm in the house.
I'll be interested to hear your views.

quick answer is - its not cheaper to have it on 24 hrs a day.
ive tried it over a 3 month period. i now just set it an hour before i get up in the morn then off when i leave.
and an hour before i get in untill 9.30pm.
6am to 10am and 4pm to 9.30pm0 -
If its say the weekend or on a day when people are likely to be in then theres nothing wrong with having it on for 24hrs. The time to segment into set periods is for when nobody is at home i.e. when people are at work/school/on holiday.
Mine is set to three hours before I get up, and comes back on mid afternoon for another six hours on weekday. If theres a cold snap adjust accordingly for comfort. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help
