Soooo confused! Help please.
Hi Im currently with Npower on their duel fuel no standing charge tariff and I am wanting to change. I did fancy Southern Electric as they seemed to have good customer service scores and their fixed rate until 2010 would save me £12 a year, not a big saving I know but it offered some security. Then I saw Eon who were…

Is there anyone here with a 1 bed flat & storage heaters?
I'm asking because my brother moved into an all electric flat 4 months ago. He's just had his first bill (Eon standard) and I've tried to do a comparison for him but as he has not used the storage heater yet (there is only one in the living room) its hard for me to work out what the winter bills would be like. So does…

Desperately seeking....cheaper electric!
I live alone in a well-insulated average-sized one bedroom new-build flat. It is electric only. I rarely have the heating on. I don't have TV on hardly ever. I am with Scottish Power, and they want to charge me £69.50 a month. This seems a bit steep? No? Any suggestions which company might be cheaper? NPower? British Gas?…

B.GAS final account
On 31 Jul I paid BG's final account in full by direct debit. On 2nd Sept they sent a letter complaining that they had been unable to collect DD on 31 Aug as my bank (me) had cancelled the DD. As I am no longer a BG customer I felt this was reasonable. Has anyone else experienced this? Was there any further communication? I…

Low electricity tariff
Hey all, A friend of a friend asked me purely hypothetically ;-) a question. If your electricity company put you on an incorrect tariff which was far lower than expected (call centre typo type stuff), are you liable if/when they find out and decide to try to issue you with a backdated bill? I understand and agree with the…

Electricty and Gas to New House
We have nearly finished building a new house and have gas and electricity supply but no meter. Do we go to any provider for a new meter? One provider says we do but another (the one that used to provide to the property we demolished) says we have to get them to fit a meter and then we can change to who we like. Any ideas…

2.5m fridge
Hello I have a 2.5m fridge in my shop with a remote unit. It's only 2 years old, I have been told that the remote unit is the wrong size for the fridge as its only 2.1KW. He recomends at least 4.5KW, I have noticed in the sumer it needs to be turned down in order for it too cool a bit more and the remote unit runs for…

Scottish Power Fixed Price Energy Online... not really fixed?
Is this tariff really capped? I switched to SP fixed price energy online in July under advice from MSE, taking a big price increase but thinking that it would be smart to cap, with this tariff becoming competitive and remaining so until late 2009... but the standing charge isn't capped, is it? And the NSC option can just…

EDF billing system is not fair (estimate) !
Hi, I have received my annual electricity bill from EDF around £850 for 14 months. Fair enough ! By reading the details of the bill, I have discovered that EDF has estimated that my consumption in 13 months has been 4295 units when the unit cost as 9.86p. I guess they came to read the meter (they did it twice last year but…

Right Gas Supplier.......Please Help!
Hi All, I know the issue of Gas and Electricity is something everyone is taking a close look at at the moment. I have read the article on this website and am aware of bodies such as Uswitch etc. However, I was hoping for genuine advice from people on the Forum based on "personal" experience and a more practical input. My…

Why are Utilities Warehouse Club never mentioned?
This is really for Martin Lewis or his staff, and the price comparison sites. I have recently been approached about the Utilities Warehouse Club (aka Telecom Plus), and, being the cynical type, decided to see what MSE have to say on the subject. I was very surprised therefore to find nothing at all even though they…

British Gas Energy Point Device?
Has anyone got one of these devices? or any information about them? I can't find any info online. During a phone call to BG today, the woman i spoke to mentioned this device, from what i can gather it is a device that you plug into your landline socket which enables you to top up your electricity key from home instead of…

Backdated bills - how do they work out the price?
Hi In March 2007, I switched from a gas pre-pay meter to one which was meant to be on Direct Debit. I haven't been sent a bill and the Direct Debit was never set up. I was didn't exactly chase them to be honest - I was quite happy to keep the money in my bank account earning a pittance in interest! I rang a few numbers a…
