B.GAS final account
Options
On 31 Jul I paid BG's final account in full by direct debit. On 2nd Sept they sent a letter complaining that they had been unable to collect DD on 31 Aug as my bank (me) had cancelled the DD. As I am no longer a BG customer I felt this was reasonable. Has anyone else experienced this? Was there any further communication? I intend to ignore them unless anyone has any info to offer.

In your letter, did they not ask you to pay the outstanding balance by another means?
They will pursue you for that money, adding charges along the way if you don't pay.
Just call them and pay using a debit card and then they will not bother you again"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

How can there be any outstanding balance? I paid their final account as stated on 31st July, I am no longer a customer of BG. I have retained the invoice it clearly states "Final account" and included all amounts due up to the day I changed supplier. They have not asked for money in their latest missive, just said I will have to pay by other means when my bill arrives. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Oh sorry
I misread your initial post. I thought you had cancelled the DD before your final bill was settled.
As you have actually paid your final bill, you don't owe them any money, so yeah, ignore them"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Bryan, you should be OK as long as the closing meter reading on the final bill that you have paid is the same as the opening reading on your new account.
Why not ring the new supplier to confirm the opening reading.0 -
Thanks for the advice, the final reading agrees with the start reading of the new supplier. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
