British Gas
 I hope that Managing Director who was on TV last night likes the feeling of death on his hands because that's whats going to happen. There are lots of people out there, especially the elderly who couldn't afford gas prices last winter. (you see and hear that they confine themselves to one room to cut costs down…

British Gas Customer - do I change?
Hello, I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice. I have always been with British Gas, I am on their Standard tarrif for both Gas and Electric on dual fuel discount. I pay by monthly Direct Debit. Obviously I am going to be affected by these price rises. I have been on to the comparison sites energyhelpline and…

Economy 7 Electricity
Hi, I'm moving into a flat tomorrow and wanted to choose the best electricty supplier for it. I'm quite happy going with an online tarriff but i'm unsure as to whether to cap or not. I'm only there for one year, and some caps seem to have a cancellation fee if you do not take it out till when they say (over 1 year). Is it…

Switching via Moneysupermarket

Have not heard anything since from Scottish Power or existing supplier. Should I have received something by now just to say application is being processed or will I just hear…

Extension – Heat Elect/Solar/Heat Pump/Wind etc
Morning I’m investigating the possibilities of our heat and electricity requirements for our new extension. Our House is a 3 bed detached, the extension plans is to double the size of the house. Our current combi has the capacity to run the size of our current house, so new equipment will be required. Space isn’t an issue…

Beware of estimated readings from British Gas
I had a gas bill today, and it was a very pleasant surprise - under £20 for the period since April. Then I noticed that the bill was based on an estimated reading at 19th June. I took a new reading today, which was much higher than the estimated reading. I then remembered that I had had my meter read a few weeks ago. I…

Switching - when do you give meter readings?
I am just going through the screens to switch to Scottish Power. There are nowhere to enter the meter though. When do you give these to the 'new' supplier?

Prepayment - Switch..?
I am currently on prepayment meters with EDF for both Electricty and Gas. There are 5 of us in the flat but are fairly energy conscious (e.g. turning off lights, standbys, etc.). Currently, EBICo are the cheapest comparison, averaging £962 to our current EDF £1264, which is quite a difference! Although, EDF did just raise…

uSwitch says I wont save if I cap
I've just logged onto the uSwitch site and filled in all my details for capping. Its showing Eon as the only supplier, however it says I wont save money by switching to this plan. Is it worth switching anyway ? Current supplier for both gas/electric is Scottish Power. Many Thanks PP x

If I'm already with BG,can I cap with them
I've just done the comparisons and BG is coming up top of the list but I am already with those for dual fuel. Would it be worth capping with BG even though it says i would be10% worse off ? Because that one is capped until sept 2011?

npower dilema
Currently with Npower and thought I was on a capped rate (changed in the summer via uswitch). Received this months bill (electricity= £69/ gas= £25 ) which has been the fixed price since I started the service. On the back of the bills it says new price from next month will be, electricity= £83/gas=£40. That is the first…

Can you get a capped plan if you pay by cheque monthly?
I'm trying to see if it's possible for my nan (age 83) to get a cap without paying by monthly direct debit. She had a bad experience with DD in the early days and now refuses to do it. I'm willing to pay the DD from my bank account (I have a different address), but can't get through to Scottish Power or E-on to see if they…

Do I have economy 7?
Im a bit confused, our electric meter has 3 readings which scroll on it; rate 1, rate 2, and total. I *think* rate 1 is night rate? I have recently moved to Npower capped 2011 tariff, does this mean that electric is cheaper at night or do you need to be on a specific tariff for this to be the case? xx
