Currently with Npower and thought I was on a capped rate (changed in the summer via uswitch). Received this months bill (electricity= £69/ gas= £25 ) which has been the fixed price since I started the service. On the back of the bills it says new price from next month will be, electricity= £83/gas=£40.
That is the first issue I have as I thought I had been put on a capped tariff ! Looking at the bills the traiff says "standard sign online 5 (direct debit).
Secondly, we are moving house on 29th Aug, should I try the comparison sites now and try and get a deal that I can take with me to the new house or should I wait until we have moved and then check out any offers .... if they are still available ???

It appears that you are not on a fixed tariff, the SoL 5 would have been the standard tariff back in last summer. Are you getting confused with your direct debit payments, which would have been the same amount over the last few months until now when they have decided that they will not cover your usage and have increased them to stop you going into debt.
As for moving house, initially you will have to take the supply that exists there but you could start the switch almost immediately on moving in, so that is the time to look.
