Direct Debit on Eon is more expensive??
OK, so I'd like to save a little money and pre-empt the oncoming increase in electricity prices. We're with E-on and not paying by D.debit. The energy helpline site informs me that I would save £96 on the Extra Saver8 plan per year. It looks good with a 12% saving, not as good as NPower at 28% but I'm wary of changing…

Using radiators (gas cent heating) or oil filled radiators
I have been thinking about trying to cut the utility bills (aren't we all after today's 35% British Gas hike!). Come the cold weather, would it be more economical to have the gas radiator on in a couple of rooms or use an oil filled radiator? (1kw) which would probably be switched to half that as they give out a lot of…

Student Housing
Hey everyone, 2nd year student here. I'm about to move into a house with friends for the year (possibly next year as well) We will be paying our own electricity and gas bills. We have no idea how much these will be, even an approximate price range. As a result, it's very difficult to use the price comparison engines to…

I have Gas & Elec. with SE but don't have dual fuel tariff - Are they ripping me off!
or at least I think that's the case? I've just switched to Scottish Power (SP) capped but when looking at the bills and filling in the application for SP I noticed that it doesn't say 'Dual Fuel' anywhere on my bills. Though the tariff name is almost the same, for Gas I've got a 'Argos General Domestic' and for Electric…

Have I done the right thing switching to EON ?
I've been getting emails from MSE saying to switch suppliers ASAP and go for a capped tarrif. So tonight I bit the bullet and switched to the "EON Price Protection Oct 2009" It says it will cost me an extra £142 a year, but the price will be capped until October 2009. Becuase there is a 7 day cancellation period and you…

Should we fix to British Gas Price Fix until 2011?
I am so confused We live in a very old house with a 15-20 year old boiler The rising energy prices are worrying and I've looked at the price comparison website which says BG Fix til 2009 is the best for us (although it says we'll pay more than we do now?) But when I looked on BG website to find this offer, the only one I…

E.On or Scottish Power
Can anyone please help me asap as I do not want to miss the capped tariff switch? According to Moneysupermarket E.On is the best deal + £30 cashback. However, I cannot apply for it via Moneysupermarket. On Martin's guide it states that the Scottish Power tariff is better anyway, but it would not be available. Some people…

I already pay £68 a month for gas from British Gas. There is no way I could pay any more. What will happen if I stop paying? Will I be blacklisted from all other gas companies. I am on my 90 days consultation period at work and really worried about what to do.

Ok-to fix or not
Hello, I have been thinking about this all day and I am wondering how this fix with SP works. Do they add the 6.50£ to my existing direct debit? I am on the online dual fuel 4 tariff. Is it really worth it, or do you think this is all hype and I should sit it out until the new year and see what happens? What do the experst…
