If we have only been with our supplier for a few months will we be able to cap our energy with somebody else or are you usually tied in for a certain time?

scottish power capping
Hi, I have been on the phone with scottish power today to try and cap for both gas and electricity and they said that this was possible subject to paying a £6,50 standing charge every month by direct debit for the privilege of capping. Does anyone know if this is correct. Many thanks.

Having acted on Martins emergency Mail last Friday I have changed from EDF (22% increase) and arranged to go with British Gas ( todays announcement of 35% increase!!!!)
