n power: beware not honouring contracts
Options
We used moneysupermarket (or so we thought) to switch from our existing n power tariff to a fixed 'till 2011 one (still n power) back in May.
We recieved a contract in mid June confirming the details and we were told that we would be notified when the new tariff came into play in about 5 weeks with the letter saying 'Sit back and relax, we'll do it all for you'
Today when nothing had happened for longer than 5 weeks, I phoned n power to be told that they had cancelled the contract on 24/06/08 because we could not use moneysupermarket to switch from tariffs between the same supplier, only to switch from a different supplier!
I asked why we had not been informed about this and the answer was to log a complaint. When I asked what the upshot of the complaint would likely be his answer was to say I would get a letter saying 'sorry'
So I'm left scrabbling around now trying to find a new deal having been mislead into thinking we had fixed nearly 2 months ago. If we had been told this at the time we could have made alternative arrangements, this is going to really cost us and it's entirely n power's fault. I'm also hacked off at moneysupermarket for letting me go through with the 'switch' that never was.
Has anyone here had any similar experiences or advise?
