scottish power capping
Hi,
I have been on the phone with scottish power today to try and cap for both gas and electricity and they said that this was possible subject to paying a £6,50 standing charge every month by direct debit for the privilege of capping. Does anyone know if this is correct.
Many thanks.

i think there are 2 options when you sign up, one with a standing charge and one without. This is what i got when i signed up at about 6pm. its presented in the same way as any comparison site, and will recommend the one it thinks is best based on your data.0

Hi lachick- the short answer is yes. It states "ScottishPower's Fixed Price Energy Plan prices are higher than our current monthly direct debit prices by an equivalent of £3 for gas and £3.50 for electricity per month'. This works out to a premium of "about" £78 for the year, which is a small price to pay if you are capped for a year.0

Yes I had this for capping too - we only have electricity (no gas here) soit was only £3.50 but it caps the price at the rate we have been paying until August 2009.
For us it was a tiny amount compared to the 30% rises we were expecting at the time.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0
