comparison sites
hello. I've been looking at the comparison sites, and they all say I'd be best off on British Gas click energy 5. Two Questions: Would this take into account yesterday's announcement about BG's rising prices? ie, are the comparison sites totally up to date on this? and 2) If I did change to British Gas, should I go through…

Electricity usage
Does 39 units over 5 days sound a reasonable amount of electricity to use? It is just me and my OH and we live in a 3 bedroom terraced house - both out at work full time. Electric cooker and hob. Water is heated by gas. Don't really know what else to tell but I hope someone can help! TIA!

E-on's increased my DD - confused
Hi A man came to read our gas and electric meters on 16th July. We are on a combined bill with e-on. A week later I received a statement from e-on to show we were in debit by £303.36. It then goes on to explain: Your account ballance is £303.36 in debit What this means: As you pay by Direct Debit, we will carry your…

Really getting confused with Energy rates - Help?!
Hi! We have dual fuel with e.on and pay monthly by direct debit...so effectively we thought we were getting the best deal with a 9% saving. However, having just had a notification from them to say our monthly payment of £119 was increasing to £152 with immediate effect (apparently we use more gas/elec than our dd covers),…

New Home Owner - Help Please!!
Hello I'm moving into a house in a couple of weeks and I'm a bit panicked about my utilities (understatement!) I've come from a shared house where the bills are paid by the landlady and I'm moving into a small 2 bed terrace so I've got no idea how to get figures for comparison on the websites like USwitch. I'm basically…

Definitive Answers?
Is there a place where one can get definitive answers? I yesterday changed to an Eon capped tariff from Eon online saver. I was unsure if this was the right thing to do. I phoned Eon again today and they say that my monthly DD will go up by about 16% (currently I pay £101 for gas/electricity). However, reading the posts on…

Just Electric
I live in a village where there is no gas supply. We have electric storage heaters, which we hardly use as we have open fires and log burners, and an emersion heater for the hot water which come on for an hour in the morning and 2 1/2 hours in the evening. I'm with british gas, not sure which tariff, its a 3 ded cottage…

Do Not Panic Buy!!
I have just been listening to radio 2 and Martins recommendation to lock in was mentioned. Be warned still check the prices against the other tariffs. An example of this is E-ON. Their lock in price per unit is almost DOUBLE the Energy Online extra saver tariff. Oil prices have started to drop. Even with a 30% or 50% price…

To cap or not to cap
I'm currently with Eon and after speaking to an adviser in detail about my usage, I calculate that to cap my bill it would cost me abot 32% - 34% more than Im paying at present (online saver tariff 6). So for me and maybe others out there it may not be a saving to cap. With my current discount I reckon the increase in…

Your views on energy price rises!
Greetings fellow money savers! Firstly, hello to everyone. I have been visiting MSE for a while now, and watch the GMTV slots with intrepid interest! I had no idea, until I was badgered by my girlfriend (also a member) into visiting this sight how informative and helpful it is. It has now I guess become almost a way of…

Help please!
We live in a 6 bedroomed three storey house. I am so sorry if this has been asked before but can someone answer these questions. I trawled throughn the forums last night, and looked on the internet, but got conflicting info. From what I understand, we have a gas powered boiler in the garage (potterton kingfisher II)- very…

Annoyed with E-ON
I was already with E-ON when the move to capping rush started some time ago so it was easy to move from their Age Relief to duel fuel capped tarrif. I got the latest bill the other day and saw that I was £98.48 in credit. This is after supplying my own reading of the two meters. So I rang them up to get it refunded. It was…

Gas/Electric new tarriff
I followed Martin's advice and completed the info for capping last Friday - so my question is - do the price increases affect me until my new provider takes over. I am so confused, I don't know whether to panic about the price increases or not!! I thought I saw somewhere that the new tarriff applied from the moment of…

Energy monitors £7.99
E-On were giving (more expensive versions of) these away with their Energy 4 capped product. I stuck with Price protection 17 and was a little worried that I'd missed out, until i found this: http://www.tchibo.co.uk/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/uk/-/GBP/TdUkDisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=0014239 Looking…

Hi there, First post for me. Taking martin's advice, on Friday last (25th) I went through moneysupermarket.com to change supplier from E.On to npower on the npower one tariff which was fixed but only available until 31/07. Funny reading on Maplin energy monitor
So I got one of those energy monitors off eBay, the Maplin version. When I plug it into a socket without anything connected it reads 00W for a while, but after 10-15 seconds it changes to 04W, and 0.03A. Is this normal or is something wrong? Cheers Ben

Shipperless with no gas bill
Recently I looked at capping my gas and electric supplies. I thought that I had a dual supply from Scottish Hydro Electric with both gas and electric being paid for by a joint direct debit. On making enquiry with Hydro Electric I was told that they hadn't supplied gas to my address since 2003. On there advice I contacted…
