Definitive Answers?

Is there a place where one can get definitive answers?

I yesterday changed to an Eon capped tariff from Eon online saver. I was unsure if this was the right thing to do. I phoned Eon again today and they say that my monthly DD will go up by about 16% (currently I pay £101 for gas/electricity).

However, reading the posts on here, people's payments may go up by as much as 40%. I don't understand this.

I'm quite worried that my prices might go up by this much on the new tariff which we won't be able to afford, and by then we'll be tied in and won't be able to cancel without incurring a penalty.

Are there any definitive answers? I just wish someone could tell me "your monthly figure is this, and then it will be this if you cap"!

    It's very frustrating isn't it.

    Deliberately so.

I'm going to compare costs with ebico if I can get the right info from SP,
