Electricity usage

Does 39 units over 5 days sound a reasonable amount of electricity to use? It is just me and my OH and we live in a 3 bedroom terraced house - both out at work full time. Electric cooker and hob. Water is heated by gas. Don't really know what else to tell but I hope someone can help!

TIA!

Yes that's less than the average of 3300kWh per annum.

Pretty low usage IMO. We have really cut down on electricity usage as a family over the last few weeks (over 25% down on same time last year) and we still get through 11 kws per day on average (Winter will see this rise, I suspect). That's on a 4 bedroom (extended) semi with 2 adults and 2 late teens kids, but LOTS of gadgets! :o

Sounds like a reasonable figure for two people with the electric cooker factored in.

    Hi
I'm averaging 7 to 8 units a day - 3 bed house with 3 adults. But I'm keeping my eye on it!

According to Eon, our house used 18,103 units of electricity last year, which equates to 49 units per day!

That can't be right can it?

All electric obviously. Cheap to install but expensive to run!

Am I getting confused with units and kWh? Please tell me I am!

According to Eon, our consumption of kWh for the year was electricity = 18,103; gas = 24,104.

    I'm still shocked!

    Units of electricity are kWh.

Units of gas read on meters need to be converted into kWh, as that is how you are charged, for the heat value.

Thanks espresso. It seems were using a phenomenal amount of electricity and gas - definitely need to do something about this.

smanfer, very roughly: multiply gas units x 10.8 to give you kwh
