Really getting confused with Energy rates - Help?!
Options
Hi!
We have dual fuel with e.on and pay monthly by direct debit...so effectively we thought we were getting the best deal with a 9% saving. However, having just had a notification from them to say our monthly payment of £119 was increasing to £152 with immediate effect (apparently we use more gas/elec than our dd covers), it prompted me to ring them and ask questions.
It appears we were on there 'standard tariff' which I didn't even know. When I asked what our options were to reduce our bill....I was advised we could go 'online' and register for paperless bills/online tariff and would save £120 per year approx.....but of course this wouldn't guarantee prices not increasing in the future.
So I asked about capped rates and have now switched to their Price Protection 17 plan which will apparently cost us an additional £140 per year but in the long term should save us money, based on our £1600 usage of gas & electricity per year.
My question is now that I'm doing comparisons with different websites such as energysaver etc.... they all show N-Power as saving us £400 to £600 per year!! But as far as I can see N-Power hasn't yet increased their prices and so am I better to stay put with E.On???
Please help! Thanks, Nicky
