Gas/Electric new tarriff

I followed Martin's advice and completed the info for capping last Friday - so my question is - do the price increases affect me until my new provider takes over. I am so confused, I don't know whether to panic about the price increases or not!! I thought I saw somewhere that the new tarriff applied from the moment of changing - but when was that? - when I completed the forms or when I am asked for my meter readings?
Hope that the above is slight clearer than mud to you!!!!

I also signed up to a new tarrif on Friday. As I understand it your new tarriff will be the deal as it was when you applied but until that takes over you will be paying your old supplier at their current rate. So if your current supplier raises it's rates you'll be paying more. In a few weeks when the new supplier takes over you will be paying the rate quoted when you signed up on Friday.Steve0
