Stupid and need help! Capped bills...
I am obviously being a bit dense but I am going round in circles reading all the small print and hope someone will take pity on me and explain it like I'm a 2 year old... Following the urgent message to switch I finally got round to doing it - have kept putting it off because I tend to get flummoxed by numbers and find it…

Total Heating Total Control
I am on Scottish Hydro Electric's Total Heating Total Control (THTC) tarriff, and they are hitting me for £163.00 per month for electric. Does anyone know if you can switch companies while on this tarriff, I have looked at several switching websites and can't see that tarriff listed? Any advice on this appreciated.

Switching - how do I get my credit back!
I'm now in the process of switching from Southern Electric, and having done meter readings last night I've worked out that I'm over £200 in credit on gas and £30 on electricity! How will this be returned to me - will I be waiting weeks/months?

martins email this morning
Cheapest cap closed Tue, only two remain. My emergency weekend e-mail urgently warned to cap (fix) your gas & elec tariff; ie lock in at today's prices, to beat price hikes. Yesterday, as predicted the cheapest cap, Scottish Power's Fixed Price energy 2009 Dual Fuel, was pulled from comparison sites and is likely to close…

Tariff comparison graphs
One thing the usual energy price comparison sites don't tell you is the tipping points between tariffs. If you tell the site that you use 10,000 KWh then the site may recommend Tariff A. But you don't know at what point Tariff A becomes the cheapest. Perhaps it's only between 10,000 and 10,200. Maybe you'd rather choose…

Excessively High Gas Bill? Check How You Are Billed!
EDF Energy have been billing me incorrectly for the last 3 years - resulting in a massive overpayment (over £800). The Problem I have never owed anything much over a tenner on my energy bills for he past 20 years but for the past 6 months I have been in dispute with EDF Energy over increasing energy bills for no apparent…

Free gas supply
I moved into my new house just over 2 years ago. The developer completed all the forms for the transferal of the utilities to me. Electricity transferred across OK (Southern Electic). Water transferred across OK (South East water). Gas was not OK (British Gas). I still have a copy of the fax the developer sent to British…

To cap or not to cap
We are currently with Atlantic electric and gas, (domestic standard, no standing charge, dual with monthly DD) we have asked if they will be capping and the answer is no. At the moment when I look at the comparison sites I will be 16% worse off by capping and my end of year free month is October. To cap or not to cap? Is…

Swapping lower emersion heater supply with top.
We are on Economy 7 and all our water/heating is electric. Our hot water cylinder is a twin element 160litre jobbie. The lower for heating a full tank is on the Economy 7 supply. Coming on for 7 hours a night, and a two hour top-up in the afternoon. The top one is the standard supply on normal tariff which people would use…

Currently with EDF, should I switch?
Sounds like a silly question, I know! I've just been on energyhelpline and the nearest dual fuel capped tariff (Scottish Power) is 25% more than what I'm currently paying, does it sound like I should switch? I saw Martin on GMTV, and want to make the switch ASAP, if I should, but can't work out if it's for the…

Variations in comparison sites results
It's a question I'm often asked: why do you get different results using two different comparison sites (see Cheap Gas & Electricity guide) ? Surely if the information you plug in is the same, the results should be the same? Well, it's not totally straight forward:* These sites make a number of assumptions. If you haven’t…

Scottish power capped prices
I am seriously considering switching to SP capped tarif, however I note there is a penalty to transfer away from them.My question is does this penalty always apply when you want to leave or do you have to remain with them for a minimum period of time. I am asking here as Scottish power customer help line is either engaged…

Energy saving devices.
Leaving out talk of monitors like the owl, efergy and wattson - what can you actually do to save energy? Maybe we can discuss tactics in this thread and point out the pitfalls. Suggested guidelines: 1. "Turn it off if you're not using it" is the best solution for most things, and it's here. We don't need to hear it again.…

Can I cap with Npower?
I have just switched to Npower (process nearly complete). I am now being told I should have a capped rate . Can I do this with an existing supplier or will I need to switch again? I cannot see any reference to a capped rate on Npower's website.

Powergen / Eon / 3 rate tariff - need to sort things out!
Hello, Have now lived at my for a year. Purposefully didn't switch leccy suppliers because we didn't know how much we were going to use. I now have a fairly detailed breakdown of how much we're using, although there are some complicating factors (the fact that I haven't been sent a bill since October, and also that I…

Just switched from EDF V3 to Scottish Power Fixed NSC to August 2009
Hi, As you can see by the title i've just switched supplier. What I would like to know is how can I find out if I will be any better off ? I cannot find the EDF online V3 tarrifs and I don't think the comparison websites have updated EDFs prices yet. Anyhow my usage, and it amazes me how little gas some people use as…
