I have just switched to Npower (process nearly complete). I am now being told I should have a capped rate . Can I do this with an existing supplier or will I need to switch again? I cannot see any reference to a capped rate on Npower's website.

  • I rang them on Monday - (am on their dual fuel Online v12 tariff) and they said if I wanted to cap I would have to switch to their standard rate. They offer a cap til March 2009, which isn't even very long.

Personally, I am not prepared to pay extra now, as there is no guarantee that these massive price hikes will happen; I would rather stay on the cheaper rate and hedge my bets. All the comparisons I have done show that I would have to pay at least +18% if I switched to a cap. Things seem to be getting slightly hysterical...
