Recruitment Agency
Hi all, any help would be very much appreciated. A recruitment agency found my CV online and forwarded it to a job at a college without telling me. Anyway, they called me the next day to let me know what they did and asked if I could come in and register with them, which I did 2 days later. However, the job fell through as…

The company follows an unwritten rule where if Jaguar LandRover decide in the week that they will be running at the weekend then whomever is on morning shift must work the Saturday…

Benifits if you hand your notice in?
Hi guys Wonder if anyone can help? My son started a new job about 6 weeks ago, (after the company that he worked for went into liquidation, and were then taken over.) After a couple of weeks he hurt his back, and had to have 4 days off. Ever since he went back they have been awful with him. Nit-picking over nothing,…

Have a conditional job offer :-)
Out of the 3 interviews I had, I have been offered the civil service job - subject to references but I can't see these being a problem. So happy yet slightly disappointed I wasn't offered the NHS job but the job I've been offered was my first choice up until the NHS interview - that job would have given me the chance to…

Am I getting this wrong?
OK so in the midst of gaining and setting up interviews for this week, I have 2 knockbacks from last week - 1 has totally caught me by surprise so I've asked hoping for feedback in my reply (I know they probably won't but didn't hurt to ask I figured) Questions are, am I really in the wrong for staying loyal by my…

Finding a graduate job when you live in the middle of nowhere...
I'm currently a bit stuck and could really do with some advice. I graduated with a good degree this year and I've been living up north with my parents in Teesdale ever since. It's a lovely area, but there's next to nothing in terms of graduate opportunities - and very few people my age too. Really, I feel like I've…

Contrarian approach to job hunting - blog!
In 2012/13, a group of old school decorators have been generating fantastic professional opportunities in difficult economic times, not by cold calling, not by sending out CVs - by blogging! We write up case studies of what we do at work, basically giving away our trade secrets, and publish them on an appropriate website…

What would you do...
So I am a nurse... I love being a nurse, but I can't say that I love my current workplace. Its far from my family, and I just haven't settled in. I gave it a year, so I know its time to move on. I have applied for jobs closer to home, but here we do waiting list trawls, where they advertise usually every 6 months,…

I've recently received a £400 tax bill from HMRC, I've no idea why - but I'm wondering if it's from when I was working with an agency. I've requested my details from HMRC and my time with the agency doesn't have an end date - I switched from agency to permanent work with current employer on the 25th February 2013 (new…
