day off mistake help...

Hi guys,

my employer changed out shift rota and my line manager stated we change on the 1st december to my new team, with their shift. This day was on their rota as their day off. When i returned on the Monday I was told that my line manager had made a mistake and that we should not of had that day off, and we have til the 23rd december to work the time back.

can they do this?

Regards
John

Too many variables in this to say one way or another, we would have to go into a lot of detail about your shift pattern to determine the truth.

But a start would be to ask which day your working week starts. If it is Monday, it seems that you did not do a day you should have. If it is Sunday, it seems that you should not have worked anyway.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

The OP knows if they owe a day or not.

If you do then work it.
If you don't then argue your case, don't work it and risk having your card marked as a trouble maker.

  • What trouble?

The wrong day was taken off, it's hardly an apocalypse is it?
  • working day starts on a monday.
thats why we were, as there were four of us who had the day off.
our days of vary week to week.
i have a meeting tomorrow and was going to ask as we
were told that the only option was to work it back.

I do have holidays i could use or go with that day unpaid.

but to be told that because of their mistake we have only one option.
    it does not seem fair.

thanks for your help so far...
