Help required re Care Package
Hi there A friend's mum has been assessed as needing two carers, four times a day. She is self-funding. My friend's question is: Can she pay the social services carers, or does she have to find private ones? Also, could her mum get Attendance Allowance (but I think the answer to that is yes).

Does anyone use a colour detector?
Oh, the joys of being colourblind... I am finding that due to a mix of partial sight and being colourblind, I am really struggling to check which colour my clothes are, which normally results in wearing odd coloured socks.:o The colour detectors are about £55. Are they really worth it?

Desperate for some advice
I have an extremely severe form of IBS which leaves me unable to work/socialise/drive and I can barely get myself to the loo most of the time, let alone leave the house. It has continued to worsen over the past few years. It started when I was at university and so I am ineligible for any benefits. My husband works full…

Can you negotaite the Motability advance payment with garages?
AS the thread title really I was wondering if this is something you can try. We've paid a £200 advance payment for our current car but it looks like we need something bigger to get a hoist in & the advance payments are more like £500, or more, which for me is ouch.

Batteries for mobility scooters.
Scooter batteries are very expensive so the tendency is to look for the cheapest. You are warned that this is not the best policy. But I have never had a failed battery, they all lasted three or more years and I think they all originated in China. I am looking for two 12v.50ah batteries. What experience have others had on…

Do the shop keepers help you with your health?
Was in the shop the other day, and the staff helper treated the customer who had health issues a bit better in her manners and politeness compared to the other customers (I was sitting waiting for somebody lol) If you are in the shops with a visible health issue do you find the customer service is helpful towards you, and…

Not using a designated disabled parking bay
Hi guys, I live on a road where it is almost impossible to find a parking space at certain times and often have to park up to 5 mins away from my house as the other roads close by have resident parking restrictions. Insurance for mobility scooters
I did search, and there is a thread, but it's a couple of years old, so I thought I'd ask again rather than resurrect that (hopefully I did the right thing). I'm looking for recommendations for insurers for a mobility scooter. I have asked my household insurer (Budget) but they can't/won't add it to the policy. Can anyone…

Your neighbours can check what benefits you are on courtsey of DVLA
Apparently, people can find out what benefits you are on on new DVLA site. The article is here. http://welfarenewsservice.com/dvla-website-lets-visitors-check-neighbours-benefits/ I'd say, this is another attack on the vulnerable group, much like bullying really. If you don't want to reveal your circumstance, pay up! out…

The lesser of 2 evils - ATOS or Capita?
As the title says, which 'company' is the lesser of the 2 evils in your opinion? I am in an ATOS area and have applied for PIP due to severe and sudden disability, and as I've yet to have the much awaited and anticipated f2f as I've only been waiting for 4 months for acknowledgement, I can only assume that they are…
