Hi,

Just a quickie.

Can a registered disabled person (parkinsons sufferer) claim back the vat back on a normal push bike with electrical assistance.

Has the bike been adapted for use by a disabled person?

I was always told the item had to be made for a disabled person only to qualify for VAT back.. not sure how true thsi is though

i was told by one mobility shop i couldnt get vat off a 'two tiered trolley' designed for disabled as able bodied people also bought them.. but then later was told i could..

I hope you can but am guessing as its a mainstrea iten you cant.. please let us know what you discover

You can never get vat back.
The shop can supply some items without VAT, if they are specially adapted for the disabled.
This would not be the case for a 'normal' bike.

A bit long; but there's some information here

In short, the item has to be adapted for a disabled person and not an everyday item that a non-disabled uses. I can't see how the item mentioned in the OP would meet that.
