Aqua credit card, direct debit reversal
Last week, on the 4th of Feb, when I was trying to make a payment online via my aqua card, it was declined two or three times. I called Aqua to ask them what the problem was since I had a credit balance of £11 on the account, making the usable amount £3561.00. My actual credit limit is £3550. They said that a letter had…

Which Tesco Credit Card?
Hi all, I'm looking at getting a Tesco Credit Card so that I can claim more Clubcard points as the majority of my spending is with them. I'm having issues choosing which one is right for me. I plan on paying it off each and every month so the balance transfer and purchases offers are no big deal to me but I have seen two…

Sainsbury's 33mnth CC reduced to 12mnths
I used the MSE eligibility calculator to look for a long 0% balance transfer card and settled on the Sainsbury's 33month card. I was accepted but the smallprint stated that the balance transfer period was 12months. I accept (as warned by MSE) that the CC provider may change the terms, but actually they claimed that I…

Balance Transfers and Mortgage
My partner and myself are looking at buying our first home. I currently have credit card balances on a Barclaycard and MBNA card. With a 0% deal coming to the end on my MBNA card. I understand that applying for credit shortly before applying for a mortgage is a big no, no! However Barclaycard are offering me a 6.9% for…

Does Santander contactless card request change number?
I rang to request a contactless version of my 123 card today and the customer service agent said my current card would be blocked while a new card was issued. However he could not say if the card number would change as a result, so I withdrew the request for the moment and said I would wait until renewed next year (too…

Debt consolidation on credit card
My partner has accumulated some debt in the form of a personal loan, entering overdraft and a credit card. Most of these are historic and she's no longer accumulating debt (except interest of course) from being money-stupid in the past; now I'm trying to get her out of it. In theory I've come up with a solution, but I…

Paying off a loan with a credit card. Is it worth it?
So a few months ago I purchased a new car and took out a small loan of £4800. Each month I'm paying off £200 for the next 28 months (or around abouts). I was wondering if it would be a better option for me to take out a credit card and pay off the loan that way. Saves me having to pay interest on the loan and a stupid…

Halifax Clarity - accepted then declined - help!
I have had a search for this scenario but I can't find anything, so my apologies if it has been posted about loads of times. We are off to the USA again in a few month's time and after reading on MSE which credit cards are best to use overseas decided on the Halifax Clarity, he did the soft check, which came back with 90%…

Advice - FCA breach?
I've recently had a dispute with a major credit card company about allocation of payments. I say dispute- to be fair the company acted well and resolved the dispute within 7 days and changed my interest rate and refunded interest charges (they took payment against the lowest interest rate, not the highest). However,…

Can I apply/hold more than one AmEx Cashback/Rewards card at the same time?
I've just completed a house move and re-organising finances. I want to apply for the AmEx Platinum cashback card for the 5% bonus which I will use for household purchases until I get to the £2,500 and then I'll stop using it (going through Topcashback to cancel out the annual fee). At the same time, I've seen the AmEx…

I am going to America for 24 days - touring around a lot and I have around £4000 saved for Hotel fees and spending money. I have booked hotels online but I'm required to pay on the day, at the hotel. I'm looking at the following options and the latter I'm not experienced with. A) go somewhere like Debenhams or Post office…

Halifax Clarity appeal success
I applied for the Halifax Clarity credit card and got an instant rejection. Appealed in writing and less than a week later it was overturned. Got a £1200 credit limit and can get rid of my Vanquis card :) Well worth the ten minutes it took to write the appeal (and the 20 minutes on the phone to complete a new application).…

Warning about Experts Exchange (IT Professionals website)
Have had a nightmare with these recently. Total con artists. They're a pretty well know subscription based forum for IT Pros. Anyway, spoke to rep online chat last weekend. They offered me a deal for $19.95. So I signed up with credit card and the rep said ok all done for £19.95. That was the first thing - I pointed out…

Born in Australia but have always had a British passport. I'm a home owner, have considerable savings and income from both - all in Australia. Good credit there also.
