What do I pay?
I have received my credit card bill today and is due to be paid in January. There is an item on there which I have returned and the credit is not yet showing. Do I pay the bill less this amount or pay the full amount and then be in credit on the credit card?

Amex in blind panic
Last month I paid my Amex bill as usual but the payment never reached them (the bank are investigating as I type). Between the appropriate date and the time I got home from a short trip I had had two letters about it (apart from my statement) and a phone call. Now, it's a very long time since I last missed a payment, but…

Cancelling Virgin - problems!
I recently paid off the majority of my credit card debts and set about cancelling some cards I had accumulated over the years. Most were very understanding and sent letters confirming the closure of the account. When I spoke to Virgin I was put through a 'special department' that tried to convince me to stay. I explained…

Spending on my credit card
Just out of interest, this probably sounds a daft question, but I don't know much about credit cards. I owe £300.00 on my barclaycard. If I was to pay it off when I get paid at the end of the month, but then use it during January to buy food and petrol, paying it off once again at the end of January, would this accrue…

How long have you held your oldest card
I was musing on this before ringing HSBC to see what sort of deal they wold give me on a balance transfer, and realised that I'd had the card for over 25 years (originally a Midland Bank Access card). The only reason I have it is because I happened to use an application form my mother had picked up at her branch rather…

Balance transfer to an existing card
I have a couple of thousand on a CC and would like to transfer it to a low or zero interest card. I don't really want to get another card as I have three already with far more credit available than I would ever need to use. I checked the HSBC page and it mentions 0% balance transfers, but tells people with existing cards…

Capital One Balance Transfer Question
Hi All, I recently received a letter from Capital One saying the following: The letter goes on to say how I can perform this balance transfer, with the enclosed cheque or over the phone. Now, I'm going to ask a purposely quite-open question: How do you interpret this deal? I will expand more if I receive some replies.…

M&S &More Card!
I have been an &More credit card holder for more than two years, spend a lot on it and 11 months out of 12 I pay it all off at the end of the month. M&S are now changing the cards from the old Visa cards to new Mastercards, and although my Mum got one automatically, they've asked em to re-apply. I don't want another credit…

Credit Card List
Just a tip others may find useful, I keep a sreadsheet with a list of all the previous credit cards I have had and what date/year I send them back and close the account. This list is very useful when I'm looking for new 0% deals, I can check whether I've been with that card before and if it was long enough ago to qualify…
