How long have you held your oldest card

I was musing on this before ringing HSBC to see what sort of deal they wold give me on a balance transfer, and realised that I'd had the card for over 25 years (originally a Midland Bank Access card).

The only reason I have it is because I happened to use an application form my mother had picked up at her branch rather than one from my bank.

How old is your oldest card?

  • I've had a Lloyds TSB card for 7 or 8 years, which is my longest. I don't use it for purchases, but once a year or so will do a BT which is offered at a low rate for the life of the balance, which I consider to be a very good deal. The service from Lloyds has always been good as well

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

My "friend" s.c., has had a Barclaycard for nearly 37 years, since 1969, so he says and an Access (now Natwest Platinum) since they started to compete against Barclays in the early seventies. He says he's not that old. :snow_laug and that Martin did not invent Moneysaving.

    Thank goodness for that :D

I was begining to feel really old. I'd expected a lot of people to say they'd had theirs a lot longer than mine.

Mention of 'Barclaycard' reminds me of when CreditCard = Barclaycard.

(Although Amex and Din Dins club existed, these were known as charge cards since before the consumer credit act they claimed they did not give you credit as the full amount had to be paid off each month).
