Spending on my credit card

in Credit cards
Just out of interest, this probably sounds a daft question, but I don't know much about credit cards. I owe £300.00 on my barclaycard. If I was to pay it off when I get paid at the end of the month, but then use it during January to buy food and petrol, paying it off once again at the end of January, would this accrue interest?
I really want to just use it for emergencies really.

You need to pay it off before the date stated on the statement as the payment due date. This payment must arrive in your account by that date so send it in good time.
Provided you always pay your account in full before the due date on the statement you will not pay any interest.0 -
Thanks for that. :xmassmile0

OH, sorry, I didn't realise I had the same name as someone else. I'd better change it.
Edited to say
I'm not sure how to change it. :think:0 -

The easiest way to avoid any penalties being charged for late payment on a credit card is to set up a direct debit.
This can be done for either the full amount each month, the minimum payment or something in between.
Don't forget we have a number of bank holidays coming up which usually catch someone out in terms of late payments.0 -

You can definitely set up a standing order for a bit inbetween, but this will be a fixed amount and not vary each month. So potentially, if you spend a lot, the standing order could be less than the monthly minimum payment.0

It should work OK, as the bill is due the middle of each month and as we get paid at the end of the month, I can go into my bank and pay it as soon as we get paid, 2 weeks before it is due. :j0

It's probably a standing order not a direct debit for something in between.
I think it must be standing orders which are more flexible. I usually confuse the two!0
