possible to pay for vehicle tax-excise duty with c
am pretty new to this but now have several cards - noticed post offices have card facilities - would be handy if you could buy vehicle tax with cc then pay 50 odd days later - keeping it bank instead

Consequences of exceeding credit limit on a card?
I'd welcome your advice... In the past few days I've inadvertently exceeded my credit card balance limit by £17. I called them today and paid £50 in to sort this out. However, they reckon I may get stung with a £15-20 fee for this, but can't tell me until tomorrow, when this months statement is generated. The operator has…

Credit Card Applications being refused
Hi all, I've been applying for a few credit cards and apart from Sainsburys, all have been refused. I've never been in debt, have never done late payments, etc. I don't now why it's been happening. Any clues?? Comments are much appreciated. Cheers!

Just taken out an A&L card with 9 months 0%. The max charge is STILL £35, not the new £50. 6 working days for SBT to reach current account, though I think their top limit is only£5k, so max BT £4k7. Merry Chrismas thanks MBNA, next Banco Santander :D All the Best especially to GAL, bless his lowland cotton socks. ;D…

Are you a Valued Customer?
I have just spent half an hour with my caring CC provider trying to sooth my worries (and keep my custom) Did it work? No. I had already decided to move my custom to another provider and nothing the poor chap was going to offer was going to change my mind. And this poor chap didn't half try. I was offered a multitude of…

Nationwide CC and Paypal
If you register your Nationwide CC (or other 0% on foreign currency transactions card) on Paypal and purchase goods via Paypal in a foreign currency, Paypal converts the amount to GBP at their exchange rate and then passes it to your credit card. This means that potentially you are not getting as good an exchange rate as…

2 cards have arrived at once!
Dear All I'd welcome some advice. I've already got a credit card with a balance on it at zero percent interest. This introductory rate ends in January. I applied for one card (HSBC) to transfer this balance to, but the process was taking quite a while, and I was also doubtful they'd give me a large enough credit limit, so…

Credit card debt
New here so I am unsure where to post this. My mother in law has got herself badly in to debt by having up to six credit cards. This is the second time in 3 years that she has done it. The first time round we had to sell her house, but now she only has a mobile home to live in. We will be able to sort it out, but the only…

Amex and Chip'n'pin
On Jan 1, chip 'n' pin comes properly into effect. This means retailers are much less likely to allow customers to 'sign', as if they do, from the 1 Jan, they are liable in the case of a fraudulent transaction. So what happens if you've got an Amex card which doesn't have chip'n'pin. Here's the answers from my questions to…
