cashing cheques

just about to start a long trek back to financial stability.back in employment but i get paid by cheque.i have been to a couple of well known banks but they will not accept me as a customer.i am currently losing 5%of my wages every time i cash in my wage cheque.
anybody got an idea how to solve my costly problem???

ideally i would like to find a bank who are more understanding.no cheque book or standing orders just cash my cheques at present.

  • Speak to your employer and see if they can 'introduce' you as an employee to their own bank.

  • most banks do offer a "basic" account, though id suggest if you can prove your payments , such as showing some recent wage slips to the bank, they should look into it for you. If you can prove you are recieving a montly income to them Im sure they could sort something out for you
