in Credit cards
am pretty new to this but now have several cards - noticed post offices have card facilities - would be handy if you could buy vehicle tax with cc then pay 50 odd days later - keeping it bank instead

The post office have facilities for withdrawing Cash via debit cards at the counter. For certain banks, I think they are Smile, Lloyds, Barclays, A&L and Co-op. The only thing you can use credit cards for at the post office is getting Holiday Money.0 -
The only way you can pay road tax via credit card at present is via credit card cheques which in themselves usually attract a charge for using them.
My guess is even if the DVLA allow payment via CC, it will be similar to council tax and will also attract a charge (2.6% in the area I live).0 -
My post office took my Visa card to pay my road tax with there new swipe machine, they may have thought it was a Visa Debit card as they didn't seem to take a close look.

I pay my council tax with a cash back credit card at no extra charge. Obviously it varies from area to area - but it is worth asking if a charge will be applied. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0

Believe the DVLA are looking into Credit Card payments.
They are probably anxious about losing money though!!!!
If you pay your car tax in two installments rather than one (ie 2x 6 month licenses) it works out at 50% APR rather than paying up front.
Makes credit card APRs look reasonable in comparison!
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Most of the extra cost is for the PO's costs in processing the applications, not profit for the Treasury, IMHO. So they shouldn't be too upset about people paying up-front.0
