I have just spent half an hour with my caring CC provider trying to sooth my worries (and keep my custom) Did it work?
No.
I had already decided to move my custom to another provider and nothing the poor chap was going to offer was going to change my mind. And this poor chap didn't half try.
I was offered a multitude of benefits that seemed to get better and better as the call progressed. from 0%apr to a personal account manager!!! and exclusive card and account. and a we'll do everything for you so it is stress free.
Throughout this conversation I am thinking, Why did you not offer this stuff to me when it mattered. If I am such a good customer like you say then why did you not offer me these products in an attempt to keep your better customers with you?
It would seem that a good customer is only a good customer when they have already been disenfranchised by the service they have received.
Anyway, my application for a Sainsburys card was taken up immediately so I will give them some custom for a while and see if the know a good customer when they see one!
[for reference my previous card was a Halifax Visa and was dropped due to insulting late payment fees due to poor handling on their behalf]

If they'd have offered me a 0% deal, I would have been happy to stay with them. If they're offering you a way to make money out of them, it seems a shame not to take them up on it.0

Yea but the Sainsburys card is 12 months 0%apr compared to the 9 months I was offered by Hali.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

Of course! The Sainburys Bank card is backed by HBOS isn't it!

Apologies in advance to Partizan for going completely off topic.
If you see a posting by someone with a name you don't recognize, but they have posted well over 4000 times, and you are wondering how you've missed such a prolific poster, then I find the simplest thing to do is move your mouse so that the pointer hovers over the poster's (latest) name. Then in the status bar at the bottom of the window, you will see a link starting http:// and ending ;username=XXX, where XXX is the posters real username (which can't be changed). Usually in such cases, I find it ends in ;username=Robert_Sterling
Cheers,
