Credit card debt

Options
New here so I am unsure where to post this. My mother in law has got herself badly in to debt by having up to six credit cards. This is the second time in 3 years that she has done it. The first time round we had to sell her house, but now she only has a mobile home to live in.
We will be able to sort it out, but the only way we can stop her in the future is to stop her getting any credit cards. One bank gave her 2 credit cards even after she was in debt to them for £2,100.
Is there any way of getting her voluntarily credit blacklisted, or a way of stopping her getting any credit cards of any variety.
Any help would be hugely appreciated

The best way is for her to have a county court judgement against her, that way her credit score will be too low for her to get credit.

Other tips are to cut her landline so she has no permanent home phone, hmmm, make her miss a few payments.

That should do the trick ;)

Your post seems to suggest that the lure of spending on owed money is too much for your MIL, which would be the only case where you'd want to voluntarily get her blacklisted, instead of trying to talk her into exercising restraint on the borrowing front. You do make it clear that this is the second time she's got herself into such a mess.

Before taking any extreme measures like tarnishing her credit records for good, more or less, are you sure you've exhausted all other options?
