CC Limit - Pre Approval

Has anyone found a CC provider who will inform you of the limit they will offer without you having to actually apply. I do all my transactions on the web rather than talk to call centre staff (feel they can see into my soul).

I haven't heard of such a thing, I don't think you'll find any card issuer that operates that way.

The details you provide in the application process, along with the information contained in your credit report is what the card issuers use to determine your credit worthyness, and hence the limit they will be prepared to offer you. Prior to application they would have no basis on which to make an assessment.

Egg and Scottish Widows tell you your expected Credit level straight away i think egg just after you click submit but i think Scottish widows (and the accucard range) tell you just before (though it subject to change)

Mint are another who tell you just after you click submit.

It would be handy if all CC companies did this.

What if you want more credit than they can actually give you?

I don't think anyone can possibly tell you without doing a credit check (which Egg and Mint etc do when you click submit).

If they didn't they would be breaking the banking code and various other rules.
