Government householder grant
I was optimistic when the government announced grants for home improvements etc were going to be made available. My daughter has been made redundant but luckily got a supermarket Job in lockdown. She took possession of her first home just before lockdown so she's had a lot to deal with. The home needs everything doing to…

Partial refund from Opodo - what next?
My wife booked flights through Opodo. Neither of us will be doing this ever again. Comms have been appalling even given covid. All the flights were cancelled due to covid. Eventually we had the option to request a refund against the booking on their website. Waited a few more months and eventually had confirmation of, and…

80% furlough actually higher than statutory holiday pay
I am a small employer, all of my staff are currently still furloughed, and I'm a bit unclear as to how to work things out if they were to take some of their holiday entitlement during furlough, as it says the employer has to top up the 80% so they don't lose out but the case for two of them who work irregular hours over…

Car insurance & FCO advice
I have "Foreign Use" as an additional cover on my car insurance from Aviva as I sometimes drive to France. I'm wondering about the consequences of France being taken off the FCO list of countries exempt from their advice against "all but essential travel" (aka France potentially being added to the "quarantine list" as the…

How long should I wait to discard Covid-19?
Yesterday I had a very active day in the heat and sun. At the end of the day I felt a bit sick. Mainly body pain. When I get home my temperature was 38,2. I self isolate in my room. I measured the temperature every 20min and was about the same. I had little appetite but eat some chicken that my wife prepare. Around 10pm I…

Only off furlough if accept 20% pay cut
My employer has offered to take me back from the furlough scheme but only if I accept a 20% pay cut until the 'business environment improves'. This seems fairly open ended to me and would also mean my redundancy pay (3 months notice) would be 20% lower. I have been with the company for 5 years. Should I just take the hit…

Redundant but, told we would be furloughed until end of October.
My mother received an email from her employer a few weeks ago advising they would be furloughed until the end of October. However, this week they have now been advised they are being made redundant as of 24th August. Should they be able to do this, when they've already stated they would be furloughed until end of October.

Does EHIC card still apply in countries where the FCO has advised against travel?
We are due to travel to Spain which now has an FCO travel advisory against it. Wondering if the FCO warning has any bearing on whether our EHIC card will still be accepted out there? thanks

Returning to work part time
I am thankfully returning to work part time from September working 50% of my standard hours. Unfortunately my employer is not being helpful with regards to what my monthly pay will be. Am I correct that for the days I work I will receive my full daily pay and for the remaining days I will receive 80% of my daily pay?
