Urgent help needed re: Spain package holiday

Advice needed urgently please!
I have a holiday booked to Majorca on 24/8 (booked and insurance purchased in January). I’m a teacher and therefore cannot quarantine on my return and in any case do not wish to travel against FCO advice. Contacted on the beach who have said that if I cancel now, I’ll lose £900 as Ryanair are still running flights. They are currently willing to refund the hotel and transfer portion due to the FCO advisory.
I SHOULD be able to claim that on my insurance, but it is my understanding that if the advisory is lifted before our departure date they won’t refund and I’ll lose the £900?
If I hang fire and wait and see what happens nearer the time, I’d be worried about losing the whole lot £3500 if it doesn’t end up being cancelled.

Regardless, I definitely don’t want to travel due to the risk of them reimposing the quarantine while we are out there, for us that would be disastrous. Equally I don’t want to do the wrong thing by cancelling and potentially losing £900!
can anyone give any advice??

You need to read your insurance policy and see what you are covered for. Look for a section called cancellation. Mine says I can cancel and claim if the FCO advises against 'all but essential travel' and I am within 28 days of my holiday.

Oh that’s helpful thanks. Mine just says “on the date of travel”, so does that mean that if I cancel today but the advice changes i won’t be able to claim?0

Also it says “unrecoverable” costs. They have mentioned the possibility of changing dates but want twice as much to move to next summer! (I’m a teacher so can only travel in school hols)0

If that’s what it says then yes. I am just wondering IF you cancel now, it will negate your insurance policy? As you know insurers are good at wriggling out of claims. Not sure tbh and hope I am wrong. Other policies say you can cancel on FCO advice within 28 days, not on day of travel.emmagibby said:Oh that’s helpful thanks. If you have decided you definitely do not wish to go, I feel your "best" option will be to cancel and accept the loss of £900.
Chances are FCO advice may change and 14 day quarantine may be lifted before your travel date(?) in which case you would be entitled to £0 refund. Better a bird in the hand."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

If it's a Package Holiday why does she have to lose anything ? - (Package Single Contract on ATOL)
I cancelled my BA Holiday to Barcelona the week before travel using the FCO Warning as an excuse and they refunded in full on the spot.0 -
Lucky you. I booked a package holiday with ATOL protection, we should have travelled June 03rd. Still waiting for a refund.Butts said:If it's a Package Holiday why does she have to lose anything ? - (Package Single Contract on ATOL)

I'm still awaiting a refund from LM.com - the BA cancellation above was to replace a USA Holiday.
Also flights with Ryanair connected to USA trip.
Chargeback in on both.0 -
You say you are a teacher and do not want to quarantine when you return BUT are the schools not closed at the moment due to to covid?emmagibby said:Advice needed urgently please!

Whether schools are closed at the moment isn't really the issue - the question is whether they'd be open by the time OP would have completed a 14-day quarantine after returning from a holiday that starts on 24 August, and I imagine that most teachers don't start their commitments for the school year on the same morning that the pupils return....Ganga said:
