Switching from BT
Decided today to ditch BT as I'm fed up with their endless price hikes and decided on Vodafone as the alterrnative as it's less than half the price. My question is simply this. As BT hiked the price of their service I decided to leave yet they still want to charge me a penalty as I'm within contract. Can they do this..?…

Will I get slammed with charges by SKY?
My annual contract with SKY ends on 28 March. I found a good deal from TalkTalk and signed up for it over the phone. It will come into effect on 14 Feb. Will I have to pay cancellation charges by SKY other than the one months subscription left till the end of my contract?

BT contracts
Want to warn about BT contracts. Joined BT Feb 2017 for broadband, TV and phone on one year contract. Found a better deal to start at end of the 12 months but BT say we owe £65 for broadband equipment charges and £1.34 for TV equipment charges because they say we are leaving early. Their explanation is that although the…

Leaving Virgin Media - do outbound still try?
Hi all, I gave VM notice on my broadband, telephone and TV package back on 18th January after coming to the end of my contract, and retention deal - new price was £49 per month! Ouch.... What was offered on the phone to me wasn't competetive, so I gave notice. I've not had a call from outbound, as was the case the year…

Virgin overcharging for a phone line

However upon starting my contract - over a year ago - they told me it was a cheaper deal to inculde a phoneline. The contract ended but I…

Origin Broadband - Stay Clear
I cannot believe a UK company can do so bad and keep trading, ,why, read on. I had been with Origin since Jan 2017 and they were as expected a super Yorkshire company, yes there “was” another apart from Plus net! It all went wrong when Origin “upgraded” their service on 26th September 2017 and informed users this was…

Cancelling BT Broadband - following price increase
Hi All, I came across the following on a website https://www.cable.co.uk following trying to get out of charges for leaving BT early. "Do I have to pay if there’s an unexpected price rise? If BT unexpectedly raises the price of your broadband deal while you’re mid-contract, you have a window of opportunity to cancel…

18 Month Minimum Contact Lengths
Being on MSE we probably all know that the pricing model for broadband is to offer reasonable prices for the first 12 months (perhaps via some form of cashback) followed by eye-wateringly expensive pricves with continual hikes for those who stay longer than that year. A few years ago I used to go with adsl2 and pay about…

How to get Fibre !!??
Hello My local fibre cabinet is enabled for "superfast Fibre" But Openreach says capacity is too high and therefore I cannot get any ISP to help sign me up to Fibre. Thus I am stuck on bog standard ADSL which is utter rubbish, a download speed of 1.3bb/sec. Its a ridiculous dilemma and no doubt is very common. What can I…

Talktalk Secuurity Problem
I found out the hard way, after struggling to repair a problem with my laptop for a fortnight, (and, only eventually solved by completely uninstalling Windows and reinstalling) that the reason that Norton, Epson and Microsoft could not help me by taking secure remote control of the laptop was because this was refused…
