2024 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD
To use Guineapigsqueaks/Sa1sysoo words “A new thread for declutterbugs in (2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021, 2022, 2023) 2024 !" My 2023 was another washout on the decluttering & decorating fronts. Neither DH nor I have managed to summon up any enthusiasm for anything. Not helped by DH’s health scare in March 😔 Our…

Whither parsnips?
Been in three shops today and not a parsnip to be seen in any of them. Is this another one of the weather related shortages or another reason, does anyone know?

5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Ok I'm diving in as I've noticed several of us have lost posts we thought had posted, and there now seems to be a serious risk of losing the whole thread. So thanks for the heads up Karcher. (and i sympathise Frith - i too like to nip back) I've revisited the first thread of our part 2, posted 28th October 2009. It said:…

Weekly Flylady Thread 20 May 2024
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

What are you making for dinner?
There were problems with the original thread in that it disappeared and could not be reinstated. So a new thread was created and we all started again, unfortunately that thread also seems to have joined it's predecessor. So here's a new one. We need to hear about Suki's lamb casserole and Island Maid is back from Amsterdam…

Could we start a meal plan thread again, so it's not lost in the GC?
Just thought this would be quicker reference than what's for dinner or searching through lots of posts? There used to be one a while back, Meal Plan Monday or obviously whatever day you start yours on 🙂 I did post mine in the Grocery challenge, but will post again for anybody that doesn't join in with that thread. Vegan…

The all new using what you have from your Freezer, Cupboard or Shed (Barn)
It is probably time to have a new thread for this. What do you have in your freezer? In your cupboard/shed? Do you have a veg patch or allotment? What did you manage to store, preserve or freeze? I, myself, like to cook following a recipe, but love to add veg from my allotment!

Saving pennies to make pounds
Thought it would be good to share some money saving tips and would love you to join in. My first tip is something I have done this morning, I have stopped buying mint tea and just have a cheap pot of supermarket mint in the kitchen window, just snip, use and it keeps growing and growing.

The Knitters Thread
Following on from the recent thread about handknitting it is apparent that many of us OS'ers are also keen knitters. The idea of this thread is to give us a place to post comments/suggestions, to be able to chat about our current work in progress (WIP), share patterns/tips/tricks, and post pictures of our completed work…

Tips for a new mum
Hello! I've been lurking for the last month or so and finally got round to signing up. I'm a new mum, baby is 10 weeks old and after much discussion and plenty of spreadsheeting I think we have come to the decision that I will not return to work after my maternity leave is up. I say "I think" because it'll be tight. So I'm…

Reading as a cheap hobby
Reading needn't cost anything if you live within walking distance of a library or get a free bus pass. Libraries often put on free activities for children, too. If you're lucky, your local library will be warm and have some cosy armchairs. Some libraries will allow laptops so that students can work on projects and…

Clean Drawers!
This is not a comment on my underthings, but the fact that at long last I have cleaned out my food drawers. Two things accelerated this project. First, a few weeks ago found evidence of moth in some bread flour. This comes from a mill local to my parents. Mercifully I haven't found any sign of them in the actual drawer.…

What's in your lunchbox ?
There is a discussion on this board started by @markglasses who has been taking jam sandwiches to work for many years. To help him and others to have a virtual peek into others delights, this thread has been started. Mark would also like to see approximate costs as well, if at all possible. So anyone who wishes to lift the…
