Whither parsnips?

Been in three shops today and not a parsnip to be seen in any of them.
Is  this another one of the weather related shortages or another reason, does anyone know?

I know it’s not the season for parsnips - they are autumn/winter vegetables.  You may be able to find frozen ones.

As above, not the season..frozen ones are not too bad but they don't roast well, too much moisture.

Yes, I am missing my roast parsnips.  I know they are a winter vegetable but I don't remember them being unavailable in previous years!

The mse community should report on this thread if they spot any.

Meanwhile I am working my way through those I bought in the Esster cheap veg deals. I cut them into chip-sized pieces, lightly roasted then frozen

There was a lower yield than usual in Britain last autumn due to the wet weather so we've run out of domestic stock.  Over the summer most parsnips are imported from Spain, but those aren't ready yet - they should start to appear in June.

This is a useful website for information on fresh fruit & veg; it's one specific company, but what they report tends to be mirrored across the market.

Thanks all. I know they’re out of season here but I do like my roast parsnips with Sunday lunch. I also don’t recall them not being available on previous years.

Tracked some down  this morning at a local independent nursery/garden centre. Added bonus that they were reduced.
