There is a discussion on this board started by @markglasses who has been taking jam sandwiches to work for many years.
To help him and others to have a virtual peek into others delights, this thread has been started.
Mark would also like to see approximate costs as well, if at all possible.
So anyone who wishes to lift the lid on their lunches please join in.

Just made my pieces for tomorrow. So in my piece box is: cheese, pickle & pea shoot roll, Tartex, pickle & pea shoot roll, two satsumas, two YS mince pies and a zip lock bag I've decanted some nice crisps into. Might sound a lot but I'll be out from 7.30am to about 6.30pm. Usually WFH but need to do a fifty mile round trip to a depot tomorrow. There are some fabulous cafes and a brilliant bakery in town so need to resist.........3

I love the word piece box.
My mother in law, used to refer to side plates as piece plates, because that's where you put your piece of bread.
I'm at home tomorrow but have planned to make soup. I chop all the vegetables whilst making the Sunday dinner. It's just a mug of lentils, with stock cubes. I then saute a load of veg and stalks from veg, any tomatoes from last week are skinned and they go in.
Then it just bubbles away. If there is any leftover veg (especially mash or Swede and carrot mash) they go in. Sometimes I blend a little of it but I like it chunky.
Will do us until Wednesday. I would estimate it costs £2 to make.
I will have mine tomorrow with some leftover soda bread I made yesterday. Will probably have a cheese sandwich with Tuesdays as I'm at work.
Just noticed theres a very similar thread started about the same time as this one, not sure if they need merging?4 -

Slim a soup sachet (choice of creamy veg or minestrone) and a roll tomorrow with what I call "kids crisps" (aka lion snacks which are sainsburys pom bear equivilant) if I have any carrott left over after dinner tonight then carrott sticks too. I dont have enough veg to make soup from scratch today.
The soup thickens nicely if left for a few minutes & fills a large mug

My lunch of choice used to be left overs, sometimes combining things from 2 dinners. So if we had pasta and there was too many noodles I'd pot those up, dribble in a bit of olive oil so they didn't clump. Next night there might be a couple of spoonfuls of chilli left - perfect topping for pasta. Quick nuke at work and it's a hot lunch. Otherwise I don't mind things cool or room temperature. I considered it free food as the OH would normally throw these little bits away but learned that I liked them so respected that I would want them saved.
If we had Greek food - souvlaki, pittas, humous, tiramasalata - I would put all the dips into one of the pots, chop the last pitta into comfortable chunks and maybe add a few baby plum tomatoes. If there was no pittas then oatcakes were always good. Same principle applies to Mexican, add the last bit of guac and sour cream to the salsa jar and take a couple of tortillas for dipping.
I would never eat a jam sandwich. Not sure why but I never have. I will eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich if I'm at home but if needing something portable PB and banana is easier to manage as it doesn't drip.
Some chopped ham and/or cheese or hard boiled eggs is easily piled in one corner of a container, halved baby plum tomatoes in another, a nice load of lettuce or other salad greens taking up the middle. Problem with salads is that the dressing can make them limp so I have acquired a couple of those tiddly jam pots from the posher hotels as they are the perfect size for a bit of dressing. I always put a bit of olive oil in first to grease the pot and then add the dressing as it makes it easier to get out at lunch time. If the dressing is really thick maybe add a bit of white wine vinegar to loosen it up a bit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I have a gammon in the airfryer now so lunch tomorrow will be a gammon, pickle and lettuce sandwich or roll. the gammon was £3.99 and at a minimum will do an evening meal and 2 lunches for two of us - so 66p per portion of meat. I’ll also have a packet of lentil crisps and some fruit. So in total that’s probably about £1.
I keep a variety of packaged snacks in my locker which get eaten sporadically - think mini-soreen, alpen bar, skinny whip, etc. I guess these probably work out about 20-25p each. Some days I won’t touch these, some days I may have 2 - depends how hungry and/or bored I’m feeling!
