Thanks Gers, agreed! Grey and tipping it down here. Hope you’re feeling better.I’ve got two invigilating sessions in school today (usual I’m in college) so will pop home in-between via the tip. Then Barney dog has a trip to the doggy hairdresser - will wash all his bedding and things so it’s all clean too.
I’ve got a three part list started for jobs to do - inside/outside/other (the other is the longest and is mostly craft stuff) and thanks Taff, I’ll try and add some fun though the craft is my ‘fun’ even though it’s work and I have two day trips next week too. I’m not much good at just sitting ! Besides which I want to get on top of some jobs so I can hopefully got away over the summer. Just had confirmation of a builder starting next week replacing a huge patio and paved area around the house (c100 sq metres) so there’s allsorts of prep for that needed moving tubs, planters, furniture etc.
Hope everyone enjoys their Wednesday

The sun has not come out yet and the forecast is for rain and clouds. Good whilst it lasted! Yesterday I stayed home trying to dam the effects of my cold and occasionally having wracking bouts of coughing. I'm glad that I cancelled my school duties. My consolation was ordering some lovely new bed linen (I am a sucker when it comes to gorgeous bedding) so I will redeem myself by parcelling up an unwanted set to put into the textile recycling bin. This morning I'm going up to Oban to have the brake pads and disc replaced on my car. I'll pretend I'm a tourist and drive slowly all the way and will pull into a lay-by if I cause a line of cars behind me. Another expensive day for me!Today is the third anniversary of the death of my beloved DM, it's come round so quickly. As usual I'll light a candle and drink a small bottle of champagne. It's not a religious thing, my DM loved candles and champagne was her favourite tipple. I still miss her along with my brother and father but that's the way of life.@Florence - I hope that MrF's procedure was stress-free.@Allie - did you get out for a walk?@Chrisca - I find that the sun is 'worst' in the winter as it's so much lower in the sky. Polarise glasses are brilliant.@Izzy - how did you fit in work? You're still very busy.@WL - how did the dental appointment go? Fingers crossed that the crown stays in.@TA - did your DF cancel on you or was a lovely lunch out?@Taff - does macaroni cheese freeze well? If not, at least it'll be a couple of cooking-free days.@Ruby - I'm hoping that you slept better last night, it's awful to just lie awake.@Snoozer - poor Esther being separated from Daisy, I hope that she can keep her with her now.@DP1 - your little one is so delightful.@Nan - such wonderful news! What a tough time for you so you're definitely allowed to whinge. Good luck today.@Rosy - hope that you got into the garden yesterday.Hugs to our missing people and poorlies too.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you are coughing less this morning. It's grey, dark and very wet here with heavy rain forecast all day. Where's the sun gone!
I woke up absolutely shattered this morning after dreaming I had taken in some lodgers!! A young man and two children. Not related. I was worn to a frazzle by the time I woke up! I wonder why you dream such bizarre things!
It's bus trip day today so, as is par for the course, we will be bundled up in raincoats, stick in one hand and umbrella in the other. It will probably be back to Skipton but I think the market will be rained off and more time will be spent chatting and reminiscing over lunch and our customary bottle of vino rather than browsing the stalls.
Have a good day folks, with less rain than me. ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, sad or lonely. NAN I bet you slept better last night. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all, ah well back to rain again with a weather warning. Thanks Gers, I did quite a bit in the garden, and tidied the storage bench.Everywhere is looking tidier, wish I could say the same about the house. Hope your cold is easing.Allie, busy, busyTA, hope you have a good old natter, it's moneysaving after all.I thought I might have a bus trip to Bury market this morning, not been for a while. I might pick something up for tea there if something takes my fancy. I'll not bother with the scenic route though,it'll be misty in them there hills so I might as well catch the quicker bus.Have a good day all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all. Raining here too.
In fact it was raining so hard last night we had to dance our Morris inside the pub! Luckily the pub was agreeable and the main bar was empty apart from 2 ladies. We had them join in one of the dances and everyone went home happy.
I've now got a temporary crown on my tooth and have to be careful eating etc. My permanent one will be ready in a couple of weeks so I'll need another visit to get them changed over.
Walking home from the dentist I go past the local greengrocer and yesterday I spotted some butternut squash plants for sale for only £1 so I bought one. That then led to a trip to the garden centre, as we had a voucher given us by a friend and needed plants for the front border, which is dry and sunny. We ended up getting a couple of sea hollies so hope they do well and fill the gaps. We also had a courgette to plant and luckily got them all in the ground after lunch and they are now getting well wateredThe bns has ended up in the front border as we ran out of space so I hope it survives.
Off to help at the Larder now. Have a good day everyone.12 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here too and a bit chilly, I had another bad night last night and ended up taking a sleeping pill at 1.30 and then could not get out of bed this morning I just feel so tired !Off to collect Rob today but I’m not going to take him to work as I’m just too shattered we will go and grab the shopping we need and then come home and walk the dogs and have an afternoon here, he is happy to do anything as long as lunch is envolved.
Nan I was so pleased to hear your fabulous news 😃 I bet that’s a weight off your mind, I am thrilled for you xxx
I got some lovely fresh asparagus yesterday for dinner tonight so I will get some salmon and jersey royals to go with it, I love this time of year for all the fresh food.
Have good days all and take care xx11 -

Morning everyone
Dull and grey here too - it's supposed to pour down later and tomorrow. Hopefully it will be better next week when our schools are off.
Eldest DD has been texting this morning - she's now in Rome for a couple of days. She sent a lovely photo of the Trevi fountain in the sunshine.
I'll go down to mam and dads this morning and then for some shopping, I don't need too much. Then I need to pick little one up from school later, hopefully if it's not raining too hard I'll get a walk down.
Better get moving - hope everyone has a good day today x12 -
Morning all! Raining! so no garden jobs today, mayb housework, maybe visit a garden centre, maybe get my summer [!] clothes out, maybe do some destruction. One bonus from yesterday diabetic thing , I learned a lot more I didn't know, and I discovered why heart blokey gaveme one particular tablet. He did tell me all about the scary side effect but he didn't tell me why it would help. I did ask OH because he was there too and he has a mind like a steel trap for some stuff and he does't remember him saying why either. The macaroni cheese is ongoing...Gers, I know when I've frozen it before it comes out dry as a bone so maybe I won't bother and chalk this one up to experience of never making more than enough for two or four meals again. And I have put the heating on for an hour, so cold! The cats being dumbsters are both sitting out in the rain [they're in the goth box but they're still out there watching pigeons getting wet]. I think it may finally be time for an indoors litter tray. Between the rain and the foxes coming out to pay at the top of the garden they're a bit wary of using the giant one now and I don't want to be surprised by poo or anything in the house again. I'll get them a poo palace as my friend calls it.Allie, fun is fun however you like it, doesn't mean sitting
I think heavy gardening work is fun, OH thinks playing his xbox is fun, horses for courses innit
Gers, I'll be honest, it doesn't occur to me about anniversaries for when mine died, I'm not much for remembering dates [ very blokey like that] , but I hope today goes without much pain [apart from the spending money bit which keeps you safe!] TA, if you do take in lodgers atleast they may do the front garden for you
Rosy, when it rains is for houseowrk, when it's sunny, garden all the way! You're not neglecting the house, you're just prioritising
WL, I htink I would like to see dancing in a pub one day..FLo, glad it went well, hope the new mattress arrives soon! dp1, she's so lucky [ ok, not lucky, I expect it was hard work] to have a job like that, it's a good job she's young enough to enjoy it. I certainly enjoy heearing about it! Nanny, hope you're champagning it up today! snoozer, hope you get another appointment soon! Take care all, umbrellas at the ready!

Morning all, thank you to everyone on here, you're the best and it was lovely to see so many people posting yesterday. Thank you all again.
We had an unexpected visit from Dad yesterday as he'd lost a nut off his rolator so his wheel had fallen off while in town. Mr Fix It did what he did best and then Dad stayed for tea too. Dad's getting very unsteady on his feet and a little confused but will still not accept any outside help.
Today I'm going for my planning scan at Velindre although I just wanted to stay in bed, I'm blummin shattered. Luckily I'm not driving but it's raining so the M4 will be awful, it's bad at the best of times.
Hope the poorly ones feel better asap. Hugs to anyone in need.
Take care all
